It's just been revealed this year's Relay For Life event in Cooma will be based around a 'Mad Hatters' theme.
The top five cancers that affect people in the region are prostate cancer, bowel cancer, melanoma, breast cancer and lung cancer, with thirty-three people from Cooma diagnosed each year, and many more affected.
The annual fundraiser is centered around a twenty-four hour relay, and features free health checks, games for kids, entertainment and advice for cancer prevention.
Earlybird registrations are now available for the community event through http://relay.cancercouncil.com.au/2013/cooma_2013.
Co-Chair of the Relay committee, Kristy Harvey, said they're looking to beat their previous fundraising efforts.
"We've set a fundraising goal of $50,000, which is almost twice what we raised last year. We really need peopel to get together - get your friends, get your family, get your workmates, and fill some teams," she said.
"It'll be a fantastic weekend."
