The new Cooma Tertiary Learning Centre is currently undergoing renovations ahead of it's expected opening later this year, in time for first semester 2013.

The centre is a joint project being undertaken by the Cooma-Monaro Shire Council and Snowy Hydro, and is designed to enable locals to study with universities and educational organisations via distance.

As such, it's set to feature high-speed broadband facilities, as well as video conferencing and study spaces.

The current renovations are worth four hundred thousand dollars, and representatives are reportedly talking with several potential university partners.

Another person has died as a result of an accident on the Snowy Mountains ski-fields.

A fifty-three year old Tathra man was skiing with a firend shortly after 2 pm yesterday when he failed to negotiate a turn and hit a tree.

He was transported by Ski Patrol to the bottom of the run, where he fell unconscious and could not be revived by CPR.

The Snowy Hydro Southcare Helicopter was tasked to the mountains, but subsequently called off.

Cooma horror fans can look forward to a local remake of a classic film, when the Cooma Little Theatre screen their version of Night of the Living Dead.

While the production was originally intended to be a mix of stage and screen, organisers have decided to film the entire piece, documenting a zombie attack on the Monaro.

Amidnight premiere is set to take place on October the fourth, and Director David Unwin says that it's been a learning experience for all involved.
