Police have now confirmed a backpacker has been missing in the Alpine region since early last week.
Last Monday, 13th of May, a 25 year-old Canadian man travelled to Kosciuszko National Park, reportedly intending to go for a bushwalk.
His car was later found at Charlotte Pass village, and it's believed the man set out to walk from that location to Mt Kosciuszko. The man has not been seen or heard from since, and it's reported his rental vehicle was due to be returned on Wednesday, 15th of May.
Police from the Alpine Operations Unit, Monaro Local Area Command, PolAir and the Missing Persons Unit are all looking for the man, along with officers from the National Parks and Wildlife Services.
The search is continuing.
