The Federal Member for Eden-Monaro, Mike Kelly, has announced that the ACCC will introduce a carbon tax hotline and online complaint form for consumers in the Snowy Mountains who think they are being ripped off by businesses using the new tax as an excuse for unjustified price rises.
The carbon tax should only increase prices by less than one cent.
The new Australian Consumer Law has the power to prosecute, with penalties of up to 1.1 million dollars.
More information can be found at the ACCC website, and the hotline can be accessed on 1300 303 609.
Dr. Kelly says that the ACCC will come down on any businesses that are making misleading claims about the carbon tax like a tonne of bricks.blog comments powered by Disqus
