The Snowy Monaro Regional Council is calling on locals to safely dispose of sharp objects, such as needles and syringes.

The Council says incorrect disposal of sharps can pose a health or safety risk to people within the community, or staff engaged in waste-collection services.

Sharps must never be placed into any street litter, kerbside recycling, garbage or food-and-garden bins.

Recycling and garden waste are normally sorted by hand, so any sharps pose arisk for staff.

There are a number of locations throughout the Snowy Monaro at which locals are able to dispose safely.
